D15 Family Support
News Update 10 June 2025
The D15 Family Support Service would like to welcome their new team member Sophie. Sophie has a wide range of experience in her work and has been working in Dublin 15 for a number of years, so is connected to the needs of the community. She has hit the ground running, and we are looking forward to her working with us.
The Drug and Alcohol Education Prevention Subgroup meeting was held this week by Laura Curtis in our offices; this subgroup offers an opportunity to bridge communication between local schools and services providing support to young people using or affected by drug or alcohol misuse.
The team continues its work with families affected by a loved one’s drug and alcohol misuse, and developing relationships through the Dublin 15 services to support the needs of the families. D15 Family Support provides a quality service to Family Members who have a loved one in addiction through internationally recognised evidence-based interventions:
- The 5 Step Method intervention to help families reduce the effects of stress and strain of their difficult situations.
- The Steps 2 Cope for young people aged 11-17yrs affected by parental substance misuse. Steps to Cope has been developed specifically for young people who have experienced parental alcohol or drug issues or mental health issues in their family. It can be difficult to understand what is going on in your family, discuss it with others or know how to cope with things.
- Parenting Under Pressure (PUP) is a parenting intervention which helps parents identify and highlight where their strengths lie as a parent and what area’s they would like to improve.
- These parenting supports are available to families on a 1:1 basis currently with a view to group work.
