D15 Family Support Service

News Update 2 September 2025

  • Our newest staff member Sophie recently finished her trauma informed training. Trauma-informed training with the HSE (Health Service Executive) in Ireland is designed to equip health and social care professionals with the knowledge and skills to understand and respond to trauma in a compassionate and effective way.

  • Our drug education prevention worker Laura also did a drug awareness/prevention workshop. Within this workshop she covered cannabis, vapes, alcohol and nitrous oxide. We hope to continue to deliver both workshops in the community this year.

  • The family support team were asked to do an introduction of our service and a drugs education workshop for the teachers in a local primary school. Within this presentation we spoke about our core work, 5 Step, Steps to Cope, PUP, SHARHP and educational assessments.  We also spoke about our new programme “The Next Chapter” for 18-25 year olds which began on the 19th August. This group programme was designed in response to a gap identified by the D15 FS service.

    • Our aim for the programme is for the person to walk away with an improved sense of self and a better understanding of healthy boundaries in healthy relationships.
    • The 7 week programme is 6 weeks of workshops that cover topics such as:

      • The impact of growing up with a parent in addiction and how that can affect a persons perception of things.
      • Challenging their own thoughts.
      • Developing healthy boundaries.
      • Learning to let go of what they cannot control.
      • How to practice self-compassion.
      • What healthy relationships look like.
      • The final week will be a week of achievement with completion certificates, a holistic treatment and evaluation of the programme.

  • We have a very exciting and busy month ahead with the Safer Blanchardstown event  on Saturday the 13th of September in the Millennium Park, and the Recovery Walk the 19th of September
