BLDATF Dublin 15 Family Support News Update 29 April 2024

  • Dublin 15 Family Support has been busy in recent weeks with our new staff member Laura training in Steps to Cope. Steps to Cope is a brief, structured, psychosocial intervention for young people in their own right. It is centered on facilitating discussion and empowering the young person, not telling them what to do. The programme aims to protect young people aged 11-18 years from the harms caused by parental problem alcohol or drug misuse and/or mental health problems. Some goals of the programme are that young people will be more resilient, and they will be better able to deal with the impact of parental issues. This is a service that has been running in D15 Family Support for some time and we are happy to have another staff member trained.
  • The service has continued to offer 1:1 to family members affected by a loved one's drug or alcohol misuse. We support family members with the 5 Step Method and offer a safe and non-judgemental space.
  • We will be increasing and updating our social media profiles in the coming weeks. At the moment we are on Facebook as Family Support Dublin 15. We will also be adding our Instagram page in as well.
